How much fun can three guys hanging out with penny boards and a bunch have in New York City? Well, a hell of a lot if the video for Brasstracks’ ‘Change For Me’ is anything to go by. The duo of multi-instrumentalist Ivan Jackson and percussionist Conor Rayne, known as Brasstracks, is joined by English singer Samm Henshaw. It’s an utterly uplifting watch and listen that’s triggering nostalgic cravings for carefree times before social distancing. As Brasstracks explain, this song “came from a conversation about complacency between us and Samm. We landed on this tongue in cheek concept of running out of reasons to change for yourself, which felt applicable to both of our situations at the time. So many people, so many opinions, so little time but also too much time to care. The song is so positive in energy that we enjoyed moving with this lyrical direction on top.” With those big-band horns, Henshaw’s soulful croon and dance-a-long percussion, it’s impossible not to engage with that joyful energy exuding from this talented trio. - Hannah Thacker
